On this occasion I will share a tutorial on how to easily find out about server information in Linux. That is how we know the server information such as IP address, server location, system operation and web server used etc. This is also often called information gathering by the pentesters, namely analyzing the server before making the next penetration or commonly called the footprinting stage to simplify the selection of the next step tool.
The application name is "Whatweb" maybe someone from friends already knows it, hehe.
Ok, just go straight to the topic. . . btw I use the ubuntu subsystem on Windows 10.
First to install whatweb when typing the command
apt install whatweb
After completing the installation process, the ways to use the tool
To find out information on one website, type the command
whatweb website.com
the tool can also be used to know more than one server information, that is, by command
whatweb website1.com website2.com
To display detailed information on a website, add the -v or --verbose command before the url
whatweb -v website.comor
whatweb --verbose website.com
