How to solved error when update node js (npm ERR! code EINVALIDPACKAGENAME)(on windows)

 

i'm having a problem when i want to try vue.js. The node js that I use must be updated before it can install vue.js. when I try to update via terminal then I get an error like this

npm ERR! code EINVALIDPACKAGENAME
npm ERR! Invalid package name ".bin": name cannot start with a period

npm ERR! A complete log of this run can be found in:

i've tried following the solutions on stackoverflow but still no solved. then I tried to re-download the latest version on the nodejs.org website.

And I reinstalled the latest version, finally I was able to install vue js.
